About Our Church

FUMC Hooks will be 50 years old in June 2004. And it has a rich history in the area. We are a very friendly and warm congregation. Our goal is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We invite you to come and be a part of our worship and join with us as we walk daily with our Lord, being salt and light in this tasteless and dark world.

Driving Directions
From the redlight in downtown Hooks, go east on Hwy 82 for approximately one mile. Turn left (north) on East 19th St. Veer to the right at the 'Y'. Turn left onto Roosevelt. FUMC is about 300 yards on the left.

Ministries and Special Programs

Church Ministries

We are opening the Shepherd's Shop in Hooks. It is a thrift store whose proceeds will be used to further the ministry of FUMC Hooks and to serve the surrounding community. Typically, we also have a craft Bazaar in the fall along with a BarBQ. We also extensively support Hooks Children's Ministry, an organization that works to provide not only a Christmas for poor and needy families, but also, it is a source of financial assistance for those who may need it throughout the year.

Special Programs

We are a church that likes to gather as a family around the table. Typically we join in a church dinner at least once a month. We have a sweetheart dinner in February and Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at the end of the year. In May we will have a Beans, Bread and Bones lunch. This will be a combination Ham-n-beans Cornbread dinner in combination with a "42" tournament. Our children's program is getting off the ground and we look forward to the future God has in store for us.
